Sherry K. Pues Sherry was born and raised in Rugby, North Dakota. She has always loved horses and art. After high school, she worked in South Carolina breaking thoroughbred yearlings destined for the track. She traveled with the Royal Lipizzan Stallions Show as a groom for Gaylord Maynard, who was famous for his comedy act with his Appaloosa stallion Chief Bear paw. Eventually she worked for circuses, where she assisted in dog and elephant acts. She also performed in aerial acts and was featured in a trapeze act. Sherry studied art at the Art Student's League in NYC. In 1992, she graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia with a degree in Visual Communications, specializing in Illustration. She recently studied at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, PA - a small atelier founded by world-renowned portraitist Nelson Shanks and his wife. Sherry's work has been featured on covers of The Chronicle of the Horse, The Horse Directory, and the Equine Marketer.
