Ellen Lawler
Ellen is originally from Philadelphia. In the 1980s she moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland where she teaches in the Biology Department at Salisbury University. She has always been interested in science and art and although she chose a career in science & education, her interest in art continues. Ellen has taken drawing and painting courses and workshops at a number of schools and art centers. Most of Ellen's finished pieces are watercolors. In preparation she makes sketches and takes photographs of her subjects in the field. She particularly enjoys sketching birds in the field. It forces her to focus very closely on the bird and she often see things she might otherwise have missed. Ellen takes part in local art exhibits and is a member of the Art Institute and Gallery in Salisbury. "I hope that my work captures and conveys to the viewer some of the joy and delight I receive from the natural world."
