Brendan Buschi Brendan is a Giclée printer. He does fine art reproductions for many regional and local area artists. He is also a website designer and specializes in artists' websites. He later went into Clinical Social Work and worked as a licensed clinician in several states before moving to Delaware with his wife Kathy, who is a folk artist. In the 1980's Brendan got interested in computers and graphic arts. He became a programmer and software publisher. His corporation, Dataflo Computer Services, Inc., published educational software which utilized speech synthesis. Since then he has expanded his knowledge of computer hardware and software and earned many advanced IT certifications. In addition to Giclée printing and website design he offers a full range of computer/business related services. As a social worker, Brendan was known for his mental health advocacy work. He was often called to testify before various legislative bodies and was a guest lecturer at many private and public forums. His work was documented in the newspapers, on the radio, on television and on the internet. In 1972, Brendan shared his concerns with Geraldo Rivera and Peter Lance and this led to an award winning, nationally televised special on ABC entitled, "WILLOWBROOK: THE PEOPLE VS. THE STATE OF NEW YORK". Brendan was featured in this. In the 1970's Brendan shared his concerns with Joel Martin and this led to a 10 part radio series entitled, "The Politics Of Mental Health", that was aired on WBAB radio in New York. Brendan was featured on almost every episode. In 1981, Brendan was featured in a 3 part series that appeared on the front page of The Washington Post. It was an exposé on the conditions at Western State Hospital in Virginia. The items mentioned above are but a few examples of Brendan's advocacy activities. His work led to legislative and policy changes regarding mental health services in New York, Virginia and New Hampshire. On 2/6/77, Brendan was given the Mental Health Advocate Award by the Long Island Regional Council of the Federation of Parent Organizations for the New York State Mental Institutions, Inc. On 10/13/06, Brendan was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by the School of Social Welfare at the State University of New York at Stony Brook where he earned his Master's degree in 1975. Brendan's work as a Giclée printer now takes up the majority of his time. Ironically, he never intended for this to become his main source of income. What began as a personal service for Kathy spread rapidly by word of mouth from artist to artist. (302) 697-3264 |
